Another fine Giornale Nuovo post: Tales of the Arabesque.
{I mean, they're all fine. But somes is finerer than otherers.}
Joe Pogan - scrap metal sculptor. I think he says on the Fox interview (vid on the site) that the fish weighs something like 35 pounds. That some piscatorial paperweight! [via]
I confess to not understanding much...well, at all realllly...about the background to these images which are actually screencaps from processing videos made by Flight404 (ie. not sure what they're modelled on or whether they are generated from real world experiments/data). I've only watched a few snatches of the videos. The images come from the 'Made with Processing' set at Flight 404's Flickr page. There's a whole lot more (vimeo and .mov) from the Flight404 blog. Fantastic visuals.
Cabinet Magazine has an interview with Victor I. Stoichita about his book "A Short History of the Shadow".
What an intriguing subject.
I think it's not so much a case of what you see but rather, how you look.
Inkline Studio via the excellent Bioephemera.
I'm unlikely to ever get a tatt, but that there is some damn beautiful art work. There's a high res. closeup too.
The minerals set © V. Makarenko from the wonderful Hiero site (where I spent an hour wandering) - I guess it's sort of a compilation site for russian artists/photographers. Lots of surrealist/fantasy/graphics/etched photos.
